Elderflower

We had a lot of fun in this Junior Herbalist Club session. We made Elderflower cordial and made some jewellery out of the old dead Elder bark.

The kids didn’t want to go home 🥰 They loved learning about the myths and legends around Elder and were very intrigued by its faery connections. I have warned them all of the importance of asking Grandmother Elder before taking any wood, flowers or berries and especially when pruning her. We need to stay on her good side if we want to continue to benefit from her protection and good fortune.

The Elder tree looks after us by supplying the flowers in June when the hay fever sufferers need them and the berries in the Autumn to help us through cold and flu season.
